Boston Locals to Listen To This Winter

There’s a certain pride associated with listening to local musicians. There’s a bond forged between musician and listener when they have a place in common. Here in Boston, there are scores of wonderful music programs and as Boston University students, we have the privilege of being just steps away from some great venues. There are an abundance of opportunities for us to see some of these musicians and we can guarantee there’s an artist out there for almost every taste in music. Here are three big names you should listen out for.

Former Berklee College of Music student, ROSIE, recently amassed over 15 million views on TikTok upon releasing her song Never the 1 from her album, 20mgs of Happiness. Any indie-pop-lovers currently listening to Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, or Girl in Red are sure to fall in love with ROSIE. Check out her Instagram.

Sidney Gish

Northeastern alum Sidney Gish was awarded album of the year in the 2018 Boston Music Awards. Since then, she’s gone on to tour with Mitski and performed at SXSW. She recently played a free show at ICA Boston for its Summer Sessions Series. Listeners of Fiona Apple, Caroline Polacheck, and The Regrettes will love this Alt-Rock icon. Check out her Instagram.

The Waitlist

This four-member indie rock group has only 565 monthly listeners on Spotify but just might be the next One Direction. Earlier this year, they released Losing My Reflection, a single that is sure to please listeners of The 1975, Mom Jeans. and Wallows. Be sure to check them out on Instagram so you don’t miss their next gig.
