Andy Slaughter, Editor-in-Chief
Andy is a first year Master’s degree candidate studying public relations. Before coming to Boston, he studied journalism & global studies at the University of Minnesota where he worked as a reporter for the Minneapolis Downtown Journal, while honing his passion for crisis public relations at the University News Service. He’s a foodie, midnight reader and always up for substantive conversations.
Nick Persad, Managing Editor
Nick is a first-year graduate student in public relations. He has an M.A. in publishing and writing from Emerson College and a B.A. in magazine journalism from SUNY Plattsburgh. Nick has held internships at a newspaper, a fashion magazine, a fashion PR firm and an educational publishing company. He is an avid reader and hopes to apply his PR skills in book publicity. He hails from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago and has—according to everyone but himself—an unhealthy obsession with Hello Kitty.
Joanna Lesher, Senior Editor
Joanna is a first-year graduate student studying mass communication. A freelance author, she has had pieces published in Pulp Literature and The Female Complaint, a literary anthology by Shade Mountain Press. Before attending BU, Joanna spent her days sewing sweaters for her cats in suburban Detroit. She enjoys reading, watching horror movies, and studying Japanese.
Ryan Huff, Senior Editor
Ryan is a graduate student in emerging media Studies, and holds a B.S. in advertising from Boston University. Aside from his position as a Senior Editor, he is the Chief Creative Officer for AdLab, a student run advertising agency. What he enjoys the most about the communication field is the exposure it provides to countless other industries. His goal in life is to be the proud owner of a pet shark and will not believe he has “made it” until then.
Shruti Bhiwandiwala, Senior Editor
Shruti is a second-semester graduate student in advertising. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in mass media, as well as a Master’s degree in english literature. In the last year, she has donned several professional hats, from being a graphic designer at an educational services startup to a book editor at a small Indian publishing house. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, doodling, movie marathons, discovering new music, and indulging in passionate discussions about Harry Potter and the brilliance of British musicians.
Jackie Yan, Multimedia Director
Jackie is a first-year graduate student in public relations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in video production from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She misses the peaceful Indiana farms, but enjoys the beautiful fall and snow weather Boston has to offer. Aside from photography, Jackie is a big fan of Lu Han and hopes more people could be touched by the messages she tries to convey through photography.
James Quirk, Multimedia Director
James is a senior studying advertising with interests in graphic design and art direction. He was raised in Wellesley Massachusetts, but spent eight years of his life in Japan and Singapore. His love for music has led him to so many concerts in Boston that he’s lost count. A musician on the side, he plays the guitar and has experience in sound design. James is also involved in Ad Lab and Ad Club.
Sara Ryan, Social Media/Marketing Director
Sara is a senior studying public relations and mathematics, with interests in social media, political strategy, and data analysis. Born and raised in Chicago-land, Sara brought her sass and love for deep-dish pizza to New England. With graduation looming, she wonders how she’ll ever leave. Sara is also the BU Quad’s Head Copy Editor and a member of Delta Delta Delta.
Dana Friedman, Social Media/Marketing Director
Dana is a senior studying advertising and is originally from Westfield, New Jersey. She loves all things social media related, and hopes to pursue a career in the field after she graduates. Dana is also an active member of Alpha Epsilon Phi on campus, and she is a Brand Ambassador for Uber New England. In her spare time, you can find Dana binge watching shows on Netflix, shopping and exploring Boston.
Catie Carducci, Study Abroad Coordinator
Catie, a recent COM graduate with a degree in public relations and a minor in Spanish, is a traveler and writer and often enjoys combining the two. She has worked for a summer in Madrid and studied for six months in Buenos Aires, using her time abroad to backpack the neighboring countries and to become fluent in Spanish. Outside of work and school, she is happiest on a yoga mat or on a beach, or both if possible.
Paisley Piasecki, Webmaster
Paisley is a junior studying advertising with minors in French and arts administration. She interns at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, runs a website for Boston college women, and is also an Interactive Manager in AdLab. When she’s not running around COM, you can find her practicing yoga, eating Georgetown cupcakes, or skyping with her sorority in Paris. She loves designing websites and is developing a program to teach other students how to do it too.
